Welcome to the site! First thing I would do is ditch the programmer and get a custom tune. Nelson Performance - Performance without Sacrificing Drivability The rest just depends on what you use your truck for and what you want to get out of it.
Ditch the hypertech. Get a good live tune. Look into a nice cam and stall set up. It is kinda drastic but not on FI kind of level. But if tearing into it isnt what you want you could just put a SC or Turbo on it. The more you do the more you will want to do. I only wanted a low 14 sec truck when I joined this site..... now I want a high 11..... and I got a feeling if I ever get there... I will want a low 10...
Back to your subject though. If you are going with the cam, stall idea.. when you are getting the stall put in get servos and a shift kit put it just to help ya tranny out a bit.
if i go with a cam what should i go with. i use the truck for towing and go to the track as well so far i ran a 15.9 at 88. also u said a tork converter, what stall speed and were would i find servos for the 4l80e
Welcome.
For the cam and stall, I would say it depends on what all you want to do to your truck. What I mean is, if you choose a good N/A cam now then decide to put a turbo or s/c on, you might have to change to a different cam later on. Your stall is also based on which cam you go with. For the servos, I would try oregon preformance transmission. I think there is a sticky on here somewhere about there stuff. You may also want to look into a good trans cooler especially if you tow. Trucool 40k is a good one.
if i went with this cam Crane PowerMax Camshafts
Camshaft, Hydraulic Roller Tappet, Advertised Duration 262/ 262, Lift .502/ .502, Chevy, Small Block what stall on thr tork converter should i use
also does any one know of good performance shops in rhode island
That cam seems REALLY big man. Mine is in the 214/220 range and its over stock. Most people that are running a big cam is only in the 230s..... Are you sure you arent looking at the old gen 1 carb motor cams?
got the info off of summit its a towing cam
