Ok Guys How Much Boost Can These Motors Handle For Instance My 4.8,and transmission?I WANT 10 PSI:)
Engine no problem.
Gen-III stock bottom ends push 500+ all the time.
Weak leak, as in any stock engine really, are going to be the rods, then the pistons.
Trans aint gonna like boost. First thing I did on my turbo
build up is get a built trans put in.
the motor will be fine ,but the tranny will go soon after,then the rearend.maybe multiple trannies.do yourself a favor and after the first tranny just do a 80 e swap.trust me,at minimum have the tranny built to level 5 specs.
a 4.8 will hold mor then other motors. rod bolts will help and good springs. if you have doubts on boost look at mine. ive run 18 for a while and untill i parked truck i was out beating on truck with 15psi smacking 7600 fuel cut off. no signs of issuesQuote:

short stroke and long rod is better for boost then long stroke short rod. its easier on the bearings. its easier to spin a smaller crank higher rpms then a much larger ones.
no wonder i have a big azz 3.90 pulley making 5-6psi,i went down to 3.70 making 6-7psi
on some 5.3's i see them with 3.0 pulleys making 8psi
