stock dyno sheets?
I hope I'm not about to ask questions that have been answered a million times. I've been searching for a while but never quite find the info I want.
I have a stock 00 silverado with a 5.3L.

I want more torque. I originally wanted a Magnacharger and may still get one, but for the price I could do a 6.0 swap and buy heads and a cam. Well I found and bought a cheap 6.0 long block. What I would like to see are dyno sheets for stock 5.3 and 6.0 just to get an idea of how the torque curves compare. I know that there are a lot of factors like different dynos, etc. I don't know if someone might happen to have baselined a stock 5.3, swapped to a stock 6.0 and re-baselined it? That would be perfect. Or if anyone knows of websites where they baselined those. I've tried looking at different super charger websites and stuff like that but none have shown me a baseline for both 5.3 and 6.0. I've read a few good mag articles about mods to 6.0s with good dyno comparisons but I want to compare those 6.0 numbers to my stock 5.3.
One mag showed a good 40lb increase on a 6.0 from LT headers and a tune. So if the stock 6.0 makes another 40lbs or so, and those simple mods would make another 40, then that would be pretty significant for very little money. My long block was $600, headers are about $500, and I'll be getting HP Tuner's software for my 67 Firebird LS1 swap anyway.
The other thing I'd like to know is how much from my 5.3 will work on the 6.0? Are the intakes the same? I imagine all the sensors are the same. Can I put all the stock stuff off the 5.3 on to the 6.0 long block or would that be less than ideal? For example maybe the 5.3 intake flows less than the 6.0?

I THINK the 6.0 has a lil different intake. I beleve it flows better than the 5.3. You are on the right track with the 6.0. Basically you can tell most these guys what you WANT from that 6.0 and they will tell you exactly how to do it. Give us some expectations. And I sure someone around here has the answer you want.

I'm not too concerned with getting more hp in the upper RPMs. I rarely rev the thing past 5000rpms. I would like a little more torque in the 2500 to 4000 rpm range. Mainly for when I tow one of my cars. It really tows pretty well as is but a little more power never hearts lol. I guess I'm mainly curious how much more torque I can expect with the 6.0, some headers, and a tune, maybe a cam. I was also wondering which parts from the 5.3 will work on the 6.0 long block. You said the intakes might be different and that was one of the main things I was wondering.
I would imagine that once you get into head swaps you're going to be adding more power up top. I was just reading a head/cam swap article on a 5.3 that added 120hp. But it was all above 4800 rpm. They had lost a little torque below 3k, so a build like that is not what I need. I know the cam choice will affect the rpm range but I figure that if I were gonna go as far as heads and a cam, and mainly make more upper rpm power, then I might as well just spend a little more and get a magnacharger or build a stroker out of the 6.0.
So I guess what I'm wanting to know is if I can get enough low/mid range torque with the 6.0 long block, headers, tune, and maybe a cam. That would be fairly cheap. I don't want to spend thousands when a magnacharger is only $4k and raises the torque across the curve. Thanks again for any input guys

All the intakes, and accessories, and that stuff are the same. The stuff thats different is the stuff you cant see.
Your 6.0 is just a tad different long block wise. the crankshaft and rods should be the same. The difference is the piston bore. 6.0 had a 4'' bore. if its been rebuilt, chances are its a 4.030'' bore. Your 5.3 is a 3.78'' bore.

As for your goals... they are not typical. If you want low end grunt below 4000 rpms... you will need to get a cam spec'ed for you. And I still bet that high gains that low wont be great. You could wait for the 4.5 DMAX... it will be another year before its released though. Why are you scared of power over 4000rpms? you still make good low end. just make better top end.
Mine for example make peak at 6000rpms... but even though low end isnt the best... it still is better than stock.

Yeah I knew that the 5.3, Ls1 and 6.0 all had the same stroke, but different bores. The reason I'm not very interested in more power over 4k is that I don't need to rev that high. I mean yeah I want more high end HP, and that would make the truck fun to drive, but I'm more concerned with torque. I'm not saying that I want a hp peak at 4k but to end up with an engine that had more power up high with the same or worse torque down low wouldn't really help me tow. I don't want to pull a hill at a steady 5500rpm! lol.

Notice that the torque and horse power aren't much higher until above 4500rpm. This would be fun in the truck especially with a looser converter but I'm more concerned with accelerating from a stop or cruising at high way speeds when I'm towing. And when not towing that extra torque would make the truck more fun anyway.
I know it's just a 1/2 ton and if I really wanted torque I could get a duramax and mod it and make rediculous torque. But I like my truck, it's paid for, and I'm just exploring some options to improve towing ability and make it a little more fun when I feel like driving like putting my foot in it. The Magnacharger would be a quick way to get significant torque. But it's $4k. My 6.0 long block was $600, headers are another $500, but I would buy those either way so we won't count that. I'll be getting HPTuners anyway for my Firebirds, so we don't need to count the cost of tuning the truck. A cam would be about another $500. So if that $1100 other than headers would give me noticable torque, then I'd be happy until it needed rebuilt and I could stroke it......................There are just way too many options lol.

Just to clearify a little more, what I'm trying to compare is the torque of my stock 5.3 to what my 6.0 would make with headers a cam and a tune.

Well I dont really know about how it would compare. But here is food for thought. Why not start by building your 6.0 with your cam (get allen to spec you one for torque that will work well with F.I), Headers, and So on. Keep away from intakes. See where that gets you. I believe you will be pretty happy with this. But if you feel the urge to make it more fun then buy a Maggie later down the road when you have more money.

Actually that's exactly what I was starting to think. I'll just put the 6.0 in with headers and a cam that'll make good torque and see how I like that. As long as the intake and sensors are all the same then it should be a cheap swap since I'd be getting headers either way. I'll just need a cam, timing chain, and a few gaskets.
To the STS turbo suggestion, I'm not at all impressed with their kits. I have considered a front mount turbo but the Magnacharger would be better for low end torque. I personally would never buy a turbo kit anyway when it's so easy to fab the plumbing.
