1.8 Rockers on 243's with stock cam 4.8L

Found a kick ass deal on some used 243's with stock Z06 springs.

For as easy as a head swap is I figured what the hell, it will also lower
compression a tad for the turbo build and boost should really like the 2.0 valves

Question is, should I go ahead put 1.8 rockers on there ?
worth the $200-350 cost vs. hp gained ? Gonna be turbo'd too ....

or just stick with the stock 1.7's from my old heads ?

also, will I need upgraded chromoly pushrods with these LS2 springs ?
length to get ??? 7.4 ???

i wouldnt waste my time or money on a set of 1.8 rockers

I would get the hi-tech push rods from comp. They are not too expensive, and they work great. I like mine. I have the same springs. What cam are you going with?

Staying with the stock 4.8/5.3 cam, why I was asking if I should go
with 1.8's to get a little more lift.

I think Quick is right though. For the cost I dont think 1.8 rockers
will improve power much.

What length of the pushrods ??? The 7.4's seem to be very common, but I dont know.

stock lenght rods are 7.4. most cams use 7.4 but when you start milling heads or running thinner head gaskets then longer or shorter ones need to be used

If you're keeping the stock cam, you won't need new pushrods - even with the 918 springs. The stock cam is pretty much done at 5000 RPM. The factory pushrods will work fine at that RPM level. I would only go with stiffer pushrods if you exceed 6000 RPM.

As for the rocker arms, on your stock engine they will only give you about a 5-10 HP gain. However, with a turbo, that gain will be amplified. How much will depend on your boost level, but a 20-25 HP increase would not be unreasonable. Whether the cost is justified is your decision.

If you really want that turbo to shine, you should install a bigger cam. Something in the 210- 215 range would work well. The factory unit is pretty anemic (190).
