I recently replaced the stock NGK's in my wifes Jeep. I replaced them with Bosch Platnum Plus. I was told by the guy @ Auto Zone that there was no need to adjust the gap and to NOT try to adjust the gap. Is this true? My wifes Jeep is running great even though the gap was 0.40 as apposed to the factory 0.35 recommendations. I am wanting to replace my stock plugs with new ones and want to make sure that the preset gap will not damage anything.
GM recommends not gapping the iridium plugs. Make a visual inspection to ensure there is no damage and the gap is not pinched shut. The point of the center electrode is very fine and easy chipped or damaged on the iridium plugs. One other note, the OEM platinum plug calls for a 0.060" gap....the newer style replacement iridium plug comes "preset at" 0.040" for the LS engines.
Great! Thanks for the info! I was looking @ the Bosch Iridium Fusions or the E3's, but I'm not sure if they will have a possitive effect or just stick with something less fancy.
