big problem with spark plug!!!

While starting to prep for the install I pulled one of my plugs to check it and it had some burned oil on it, so I decided to pull another one on the same side and the threds are clean as when it was new and the tip is barely black (these plugs have 15-20K on them!) I went to put it back in and it goes in about 4 threads worth and stops, but not only does it stop, it forces the socket off the plug! I tried a number of times to get it back in, I've put motor oil on the threads (plug and head) and it will screw in finger tight just that far...I'll post pictures when I get them loaded. Anybody know what the deal is?

Did you try to thread it in originally with a wobble head socket? Sounds like you cross threaded it...

And when you say it forces the socket off the plug, do you mean you rounded out the plug? Are you using the right size plug socket?

I'm almost positive I didn't cross thread it...haha I won't garuntee it, but when I say it forces the socket off, I can screw the plug in with the socket on it and then the socket is hitting the head instead on going into the hole where the plug is going into, so I can only get the plug in a little ways and then it gets pushed off...I'm going to try using a thread chaser on it and see if they just need to be cleaned up a bit.

That sounds more like you have the wrong socket....at least it sounds too big around at the end.
