They come with the LQ9 6.0 when other trucks come with a 5.3 They also have a 14 9.5" ring gear rear end and a 4L70E transmission. As far as I know you can get them in extended cab and crew cab forms but not regular cab. This is a 1/2 ton option as well. Thats all that I can think of.
Sam
Sam, you are partly right. The VortecMax is a LQ9 powered 2WD truck on a 4WD frame. It has the 10 bolt 8.6 rear. There was an L33 (all aluminum 5.3L HO) that only came in 1/2 4WD excab trucks. There is no badging to indicate a 5.3L HO motor...
The 2004-05's were called Vortec High Output (VHO)...LOL, not Vortec Max. Not sure what axle they had. They were all 2WD and sold mostly in the Texas market with an LQ9 345/380 engine. All the 04-05's are EC.
The 2006's were called Vortec Max and were all 4WD and had 9.5" axles. You could get CC or EC.
Too many axle failures to leave them 10-bolt and 2WD.
The GMT900 Max's all have 9.5" axle and 4WD. You still gotta buy a CC or EC I believe.
The aluminum blocks were an option on all half ton EC or CC...or so I thought. Some say 4WD only, not sure. They're not Max's or VHO's though.
When I looked at buying the V-Max you had to go with an EC or CC and you also got 3.73's with 2WD or 4.10's with 4WD.
The dealership I used to work at sold a 2wd and I think it had a 14 bolt, but im not 100%.
