Crank position code
well driving home from out eating i got a check engine light, got home and plug it in, well its telling me that i have a crank position code. Well tried to clear it but came right back on once the truck started. So reading a little info on it im thinking is the crank position sensor and it needs to be replaced. so if any one has info on this please let me no.

Anyone near you with HPTuner software can do it or a GM technician with a TechII can fix it. Its a permanent thing that cannot be reset, it has to be set.
-
Well my truck was tuned with a hptuner and y would it just go through a code, i thought it would be a bad sensor, am i wrong.
-
Just because it was tuned with HPT doesn't mean the position sensor is calibrated. Every sensor to reluctor location is different, sometimes they're close enough to pass but other times they're way out of location. You need someone to set the CPS with the tune in the truck so its set to your specific setup.
-
well would this just happen out of the blue i got my tune a 1000 miles ago.
-
Did your battery go dead or get disconnected?
-
nope, really just came out of the blue so thats y im leaning toward the bad sensor.
-
that or you burned a wire, they run pretty close to the exhaust.
-
is it not right above the starter fly wheel area.
-
yep, right behind the starter solenoid.
