Hey, does anyone know how to tighten the emergency brake on an 04 silverado 2WD? I really don't want to pay a stealership to do it.

I'd stop calling them stealerships unless you wanna post a specific problem and name names.
All you have to do is completely disassemble the rear disc brakes (you have the last year for rear discs on a half ton) and spread the shoes (assuming they're not worn out) with the adjuster that operates much like a drum brake adjuster. There is a fancy Kent-Moore tool that measures the inside diameter of the shoe in hat rotor and the outside diameter of the shoes....that way you can mess with the adjuster until the OEM clearance is attained.
Why was 2004 the last year for disc brakes on the half tons? I thought disc brakes were to be far better then drum brakes.
I think they are too. GM said something about pedal feel but I think it's BS. When I compared my dad's old 97 Tahoe to my 03 Denali and my old S-10 with drums to my 2000 Blazer with discs, I can't disagree more. I think it all comes down to the almighty dollar.
I would agree with that one. Anything to save a dollar (or a penny).
