Help with speedometer
I've searched and guess I'm not quite understanding exactly what I need to do.
What I have is a 03 5.3 in a 96 gmc. All gauges are working except speedometer. My question is do I connect speedo wire from (03 pcm) to (96 speedo gauge) then have a wire off that one to VSS?
or
do I have to connect old VSS wiring to new VSS wiring then speedo wire from 03 pcm to 96 speedo gauge wire?
Thanks

Take the speedo output wire from the PCM and hook it to the speedo wire going to the instrument panel. That should get the speedo working. I'm not sure how you handle the anti-lock brakes on that year model. If you have the 96 PCM still installed you should be able to connect the 96 speedo wire leads to the 03 speedo wire leads going to the transmission to keep that stuff working. I think I remember someone saying you have to cross-match the colors, green to purple and visa-versa.

i took the 96 pcm out. I'll try hooking those 2 up and see what happens. Yeah I'm still working on the antilock brakes also.

What red said, vss out on the pcm to the gauge.

well that was easy enough. Hooked the speedometer wire from 03 pcm to speedometer and it works. All I have left is the tach, anti-lock, and getting my gears indicator back and it will be complete.
Thanks

Hook the tach up the same way but change the resolution in your programming from 6 to 3.
