A/C Problems

Well I was out of town last week and I left my truck with my girlfriend and I get a call from her saying the A/C quit working...I got home and sure enough I'd turn the blower to 5 and nothing. I went to work the next morning and when I started going down the highway I could feel cold air coming out...I think something is wrong with the blower. Is there a fuse or relay somewhere that could be bad? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated since taking it to the service department will probably cost hundreds...

does the fan speed work on 1-4?

cold be blower, relay or a plastic bag got sucked up the air intake and is blocking the airflow. Also check the in-cabin air filter.

No...fan doesn't work on any speed. I think the condensor and compressor are okay bc the air still gets cold.

Where is the relay located? under the hood? Is the in-cabin air filter located down under the passenger dash?

check your fuses first. There is a seperate fuse for #5 speed under the hood. Then you need to check the resistor down by the blower motor. If any of the wires are melted, you will need a new wire harness and resistor.

The dealer will try and rip you off $85 just for the wire harness.

There are no cabin filters on these after 2002.

The resistor and pigtail are burnt.

Replace them both as well as the motor and check the motor ground.

Very common....especially on basic trucks.

im with gas check the wiring at the resistor for a melted connector
