rear brake clunk

Over the past couple weeks the rear brakes have begun making a popping sound (clunk) when braking to a stop. I don't notice it at speed, just when I cam slowing to stop.
I can also feel the pedal pulsing slightly in connection with the popping.
Pulled the drums off the other day, and nothing looked out of sorts.
No broken or cracked shoes, or drums.
Any suggestions?

92 fullsize with 4.56 gears eaton limited slip, stock rear drums and relatively new shoes.
Stops good, just sounds bad, and feels a little concerning under my foot.

If your hearing a clunk in the rear that sounds like the leaf springs are popping or the brake shoes are sticking, I recommend you remove your driveshaft and grease the inside splines if the input yolk, what happens is that the yolk no longer slips in and out of the trans output shaft, and when you brake the rear of the truck comes up extending out the shaft, then when the weight comes down the shaft travels back in and binds making the popping sound like a clunk, that's what I have ran across many time at the dealership I work at, wont hurt to look at that possibility, let me know what you find out...

The tranny was out not too long ago, and everything looked good with regard to lubrication on the splines, but I'll check none the less.

Also could that explain the pulsing feeling in the brake pedal?

Did it start to happen only after you did the rear brakes?

Is the smaller shoe installed towards the front on both driver and passenger side?

If not, it be catching on the larger shoe and actually pulling it down on the mount(and extending the wheel cylinders letting your pedal go down) and letting it *bang* back into place when it physically can't rotate the shoe any further in the drum(and pushing BACK in on the brake cylinder, making your pedal go up) Small shoe should be towards the front of vehicle.

I have not had a chance to work on it tonight, but will get to it tomorrow, and let you know how it goes.
It did not happen soon after the brake work, but it is possible that I got the shoes switched.
I will check out the advice tomorrow.
