Front Brakes
Well the past couple days i have had a type of squeaking coming from my front brakes, so i just got new pads and put them on, the pads were more then half worn, but that didnt stop the squeaking. So i think i am going to get my rotors turned and see how that turns out, would my bearings makes that noise? And correct me if i am wrong but i slammed on my brakes going around 35 and i didnt lock up the brakes, just felt like that werent catching to great, but i mean there not terrible and i stopped pretty quick.

When you slammed on brakes did the anitlock system kick in?
-
Are you sure its not the springs rubbing against themselves causing the squeek, kind of like how a cricket does. we had that problem with our 07 CC. I greased the springs and the noise went away.
-
The ABS didnt kick in, it felt like they didnt catch enough for them to. As for the noise, its exactly like a cricket. Do you mean grease that fitting in the center right behind the rotors but in front of the shock absorber?
-
Nope, out on the ends of the springs where they're supposed to glide over one another without making noise when the springs move up and down. You could bounce the truck up and down by jumping in the bed to make the squeeking noise in our truck.

Ya its a cricket noise but its like theres a strange piece of metal that sticks out somewhere just slightly and everytime the tire turns and hits that certain spot it makes that noise. I think im getting my rotors turned anyway so if that doesnt stop it.....then we'll see
-
Is "this piece of metal" the pad slides that clip onto the caliper? Or is it the dust (brake dust) shield?
-
its probably the rotor. get it turned cause its a little warped. Mine is doing that now too... sounds like every time the tire rotates it will make a squeak, and as I go faster, the noise gets faster. but it doesn't always do it and the brakes still work great. BTW I think that your abs is fine. Mine is the same way as yours. If you really want to feel it work do it in a wet parking lot with no poles or cars. a 30mph brake slam should yield the ABS shutter.

Its not the clip that holds the pads on cause i replaced that and it still makes the noise, not sure about the shield. But ya im going to get my rotors turned and see how that works out.  As for the ABS, i know it still works cause when i brake pretty hard and go over a bump or when i stop hard on the dirt roads at work i can feel it kick in. But thanks for the help guys

You should always get you rotors cut when you change the pads. Did you call in your vin # at the dealer when you bought the truck? When I did I had a recall on the wheel speed sensors. I got a 2000 GMC.
