A whole bunch are...gains are minimal, but there are some gains.
How would you port a stock MAF?
Don't do it. That will do nothing but cause you problems with your tune. :nono:
I read this and translated MAF as throttle body. Ignore my post...lol.
Where's the short bus smilie when you need it.
I know - lol - I brain farted that one pretty good.
I'm running a stock ported MAF with no issues but I have heard of other people having problems because they damage the resistors. If you decide to port it, take the plastic sensor out and bolt the housing together. Take your hacksaw blade loose and slide it through the baffle to cut it out. Once the baffle is out you can either chuck it up and machine it for max results like I did or you can tale a die grinder with a flapper wheel and grind the rest of the baffle out and then finish porting it. Now take a hacksaw blade by itself and cut the plastic support bars off each side of the sensor (Do Not Damage Resistors) and bolt it back together. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK as I won't be responsible for it not working. You will have to increase your MAF table once this is done to compensate for the amount of air you'll increase. I gained 3 HP on the dyno which isn't much but Ive ported quite a few MAF's for use with nitrous and haven't had issues.
Here's what it will look like once complete.

Porting a truck MAF is totally different though, correct? Thats an LSx engine MAF, right? Be sure that if you change your MAF, to some configuration other than stock, that you have a wideband handy to make sure you don't lean out your tune. Get with your tuner the day of the install and have him do the retune after the install to prevent possible engine damage due to lean fuel mixtures.
