It's probably a 8.5" 10bolt.
not the size in the diff , the actual length of the entire assembly axles diff all thatQuote:

no it is not wide enough and you dont want to do that anyway. the camero rear is weaker than the truck rear. and the lug pattern is different. why did you want to do this anyway??
You don't want the weaker 7.5" rear end to replace your 8.5" rear end. If you want to replace it go with a Dana, Ford 9" or if you just want disk brakes you can go with a Impala/Caprice rear end. You may have to get spring pads welded onto the Impala rear end to work with your truck and if you have 6 bolt wheels you'll be out the cost of buying some 5on5 truck wheels.
i believe you got a set of 31 spline axles, just no posi...posi should be all you need unless your running an ungodly amount of power...the 8.5" will hold, that 7.5" is pretty wimpy.
I hear the Fbodies with manual trannies are supposed to be 8.5" also. is this correct?
F-bodies have the same S-10 rear regardless of tranny, at least on the 4th gens i know and I'm pretty sure its the same on the 3rd gens because there were no major suspension changes between the two.
The '98 Z28 I had, came with that puny 7.5" rear end...
