Shocks

I got mine done pretty quickly, but mainly asking this out of my own curiosity.

When I was removing the top nut on the front shocks on the drivers side, it was apparently just spinning the piston. I wound up using one of my new ratchet wrenches (which rock - everyone should have a set) on the nut and Vise-Grips on the threaded post. It loosened up easily enough (fortunately) but just curious if this is typical or if there's another way to get it off without it just spinning...

cut the nut off with a air hammer,and if that dont work just cut off the whole post.takes 30 seconds.

most the time when they go bad moze they spin... i had to do what you did last time... if you have an impact you can hit it in short burst it will spin the nut off without spinning the piston. does not always work but that is what i do first to see if it works...

Yeah - no air hammer or air gun, so I had to do the Vise Grips method.

I use a high speed butterfly impact and it's always been able to spin the nuts off with a little side to side pressure.

i used the vise grip method...that way just in case i can always reuse the stock shock

I thought for some reason the top of the shock was made so you could put a wrench on the bolt and another on the rod. I want to say that's how my stock shocks were.
