Test time coming soon

well after seeing a couple of posts about sparks plugs and knowing that im still running the stockers with about 38K miles, I decided to buy some new ones and take them to the dyno day...

I;ll get a couple runs on the old and the new just to see if there is any difference. Of course i will probably bump the timing a bit if the motor can handle it...

Also I will post up the gains from the cam(See Sig).

plugs are NGK TR55's Platinum

My thoughts are if i even get an increase of 5 hp with the plugs that is worth 20 bucks.... not to mention a smoother idle and maybe better mpg due to better burn...

New TR55 plugs gapped properly will give you the opportunity to run a bit more timing... If you make a few baseline runs and then switch the plugs and rework your timing tables, you won't be able to see ALL of the benefits until about 200-300 miles down the road. Remember--our PCMs need some time to work with the motor to get everything working in sync... You may not see any real HP gains by switching the plugs immediately, but you will notice a smoother idle, more linear power delivery and slightly better fuel economy...

well i guess i should just switch them out and finish the 200-300miles from the last flash then

when you just flash a new tune then it doesnt need to relearn anything, but when you rewrite the entire vcm then the pcm will need to learn...his pcm will just be flashed not rewritten so you will see all the benefits

well i got to drinking and decided to put the plugs in now....funny thing is i gaped the new plugs to .35...the old ones i took out were still at .32 to .35 kinda weird since i got 38k on the truck

Well I got to drinking and went to sleep. Haha. We'll see how those plugs turn out tomorrow.
