Well if something bad is going to happen IT WILL HAPPEN TO ME!!!!
Today my jack slipped off on my Truck and slammed into my oilpan and put a hairline crack in the bottom of it and broke a power steering line. Is there anyway to Weld the pan where it would stop the leak??? if you can't weld it can you pull the pan without pulling the motor???
Man i am so pissed at myself right now. Someone please make me feel better.

I called summit and they have no aftermarket pans available. I just don't know if you can weld to the cast aluminum pan???? Anyone Know?

Brent, you can tig it, but it has to come off.
I just sold a pan too. sorry.
I found out that some people have actually cut and welded the pans sucessfully, so welding it back up should be no problem. Now finding someone around Houston that will crawl up under the truck and weld is the problem.
Anybody know anybody around houston that MIG/TIG Weld good????

no-one will weld or shall I say should weld the pan with it on because of oil/oil residue inside.

It has to come off.
It has to be tig'd; mig wont do it.
unbolt the motor mounts and lift the engine with a hoist and then drop the pan. You may have to drop the oil pickup tube to get the pan free, though. One bolt on the oil pump and a nut on the tube/windage tray/crankshaft mains bolt.
Might be worth a try - I'm sure there are others. Sorry about your problems. :sad:
If it's a 2wd you can pull the crossmember off and drop the pan. If it's 4wd you'll have to pull the front diff as well. Either way, you don't have to lift the motor. Unless you're talking about the TBSS, then I don't know.
You should be able to pick up a used oil pan from someone for less than $50. They pop up on pt.net all the time.
