questions questions

ok, would like my truck in low 13's high 12's (mid 12's if possible) i have decided to go for the radix system on my 5.3. is this a good choice? what else do i need to get it down there i already have a "super 40" flowmaster (3"in/2 1/2 out dual) and i just got my gibson headers in today. i also bought a shift kit and a corvette servo which will be installed this week. now my uncle wrecked his truck (99' obs) he kept the enigne and trans. they have 50k on them its a 350 with a 4l80e. he said i can have it if i want. he also has a 6.0 in his 2000 hd with 80k and he said i can have it if i give him the 5.3 to put in his. but my enigne only has 1,200 miles on it so i don't think its that good of a trade since his has so many miles. what do you guys think? if i use my heads and intake on his 350 would that be worth it? is that engine just like a Ls1 but cast iron? just wondering thanks for any input. (sorry for the long post)

Personally, I'd take the 6.0 liter no questions asked.

id put the 6.0 in with nitrous or a procharger. the compressoron a radix is to small for a 6.0 motor. it dosent develop boost till 3k rpms you would have to swap out the compressors with a whipple to match the motor size. radixs are a great kit they just need to have better boost options and a bigger compressor

I'm running mid 12's on a RADIX'ed 5.3 ... stock pulley too. It's only seeing about 7psi.

If I was going to do something else major i'd stick a 6.0 under the RADIX and up the boost a little more. 11's for sure.

There's nothing like instant boost! While your waiting on your boost to come on at 3k rpms, I'll be pullin on ya hard.

I say go with the RADIX. It is the most complete supercharger kit too. VERY nice and well put together.

The 350 from his '99 obs is completely different than an ls1. Your heads and intake wil not work on that engine. Also, are you sure that that trans is a 4l80? I didn't think that those came with the Vortec 350's.

your runnin mid 12s what else is done to your truck? i wouldnt put a radix on a 6.0 motor at all. its a good blower it just needs to be bigger. compressor is to small for 6.0 motors.

Thanks for the info. Im not sure what it is he had told me its a 4l80 but i don't think he was sure either. So you would take the 90k 6.0 over a 1,200mile 5.3?? plus the 6.0 is a 2000 and mine is an 04'. I think im gonna end up doing what flyer did with the radix and a cam. sounds like a good setup. btw how much did they charge you to install a the cam? do you need to take out the engine to install it?

go with the 5.3 if the 6.0 is a 2000. 2000 blocks can be bored that much. you want 2001 and newer 6.0 block

if your gonna go with a radix i would check ls1tech.com and check out the sponser section theres always deals on there for blowers

thanks for all the help, i found a local guy whos a dealer for them and he said he'll give me one for wholesale if i put a sticker of his shop on my back window so im all for that. i talked to him today and told him about my uncles block, he said he can get 6.0 short blocks for about 400 brand new and i can bolt all my 5.3 stuff on it and keep my block as a spare. So cam'd 6.0 w/ Radix here i come. He also told me the 5.3 heads will give more compression for the 6.0 than the regular 6.0, he said the radix is fine for 6.0 and that he hasn't seen any problems with it.
