Newbie from Tempe, AZ

Whats up chevy lovers. I just blew a rod in my 1998 chevy silverado (bone stock except for the 6inch rcd lift and 35inch BFG's) and was deciding which route to go. This site rocks and has helped me decide on the 5.3l w/ 4l60e conversion. So if anyone has any hints, tips, recommendations, etc on this year and motor swap im glad to get any and all. Already spent like 10 hours reading threads on this site alone and have learned a grip. Should have the funds to get this started in early july 08:)

Welcome to LS1truck! Nice Z you have there--truck will run a lot better with the 5.3L. I would say for you to get a list of things to buy or have done for the swap--like wiring harness, fuel lines, motor mounts, and the tranny crossmember. I am assuming you already found the Swap thread. We have several members who have done the same thing as you--PM them and ask as many questions as possible. You might wanna try and get a 4L65e instead of a 60e. It has the updates and slightly better internals...

I agree the 5.3 / 4L60E would be a cool swap, but I think if I had to do the swap anyway I would go with a 6.0 and 4L80E. Either way you will love it especially when you catch the mod bug!!!!!!!! Oh and Welcome to the site!!
