i put in the 65 and used the dipstick from my 60. It acts like it is too long and when you try to pull it it hangs. Any idea on what my installer has done

maybe you have a deep pan 60 dipstick.it is pretty typical too have to feed the dipstick in to the tranny.
looks like the same pan as my 60 though. The dipstick was always smooth. now when you removed it hangs on something. You think he put the dipstick tube to far into the tranny?
Same dipstick depth for all depth pans. My 4 quart 80e pan uses same dipstick and filter.
i have no idea other than maybe he bent the dipstick tube
Your installer is the dipstick. It shouldn't hang up on anything. The dipstick is probably bent, hanging up on the tube when trying to pull it out. There is nothing in the way otherwise...the windage tray is located to where it won't touch it--unless it is bent upwards at a 90* angle!
Windage tray in a transmission? Hmmm....thats a new one on me.
OOOOOOOHHHHHH...I didn't read it all the way I guess. I thought we were talking about a motor OIL DIPSTICK. I guess I am the dipstick now, huh?
Now that I know what we are talking about.... Have you seen where the dipstick enters the tranny? It is on the passenger side of the valve body, up by the second accumulator. It could be hanging up on the valve body. I would say drain and drop the pan to see what it looks like...
