Hey,
My Dynatech long tube headers showed up today:)
I've never installed headers on a truck. I do have mechnical skills, gotta shop and all the tools etc.
My questions is any secrets or things to avoid or tricks to check befoe install?
Like would you recommend special gaskets or the ones supplied from dynatech?
The header flanges are suppose to be lazer cut but checking things like straight and true surfaces.
Any recommendations would be appreacated.

I was told to try and reuse the stock gasket if they aren't messed up because they are metal.
i recommend putting it on jack stands pulling the front tires and fender linings
we did this to mine an it was easier. also have a friend or two to help. youll need one.Quote:

Yeah, get a friend to help. No need to take anything off. Just get the front end in the air...waaaaaay in the air. You pretty much have to get them vertical to get them in. Make sure to get some WD-40 on the collector bolts about 10 minutes before you start. It takes some working, but they will fit!
On mine I had to remove the heat shields on the firewall for them to fit as well. IMO just take them off when you start cause its a PITA if you dont. You can put them back on when your done... Also Mine had thes bars for stiffness on the bottom of the truck. 2 bolts. Take those off too. HAVE THE SHORT GUY WASH YOUR FENDER WELLS OFF!!! :LOL: Just keep him away from horses. Be sure and stop installation when the headers are in before you put the y pipe on... start the truck with open headers and rev it a couple of times. Then finish install.
Yeah, those are just frame to IFS braces. No need to take both bolts off--just take off the one and swing the brace out of the way...Quote:

and you dont have to take the actual plugs out as long as you are careful and have an extra set of hands to guide the header into place to get the first couple of bolts in
