I am wanting to build my own cold air intake since I can't buy one like I want. What I'm wanting to do is build one out of 4" stainless tube to drop down between the radiator and old intake box and mount a conicle filter directly behind the bumper. My question is, where would I need to mount the mass air flow filter? near the new filter location? or could I mount it further down stream in the same general area that is stock, so that I don't have to lengthen the wires? Any input would be appreciated!
Thanks

just mount it right off of the tb.

I have mine right in front of the TB, connected with a rubber below.
I did have it way down by the filter, like stock, but after i put it up on the TB, i noticed better throttle response, i guess that makes sense.
basically anywhere in the intake path will work.
good luck,

383 & Farmtruck, Thanks for the replys!
Greg- Thanks for the link, but there is no info in that thread that answers my question. I knew what size tubing to use (even mentioned it in my post- 4"). I was asking were to mount the mass air flow sensor.
Thanks

Okay, I made a tube similar to that for my 93 LT1. It had two 3" tubes going down the front of the motor between the front pulley and the electric fans. I splayed the ends behind the air dam and had two 3" rechargable filters attached. it was cool looking and got lots of cool air down there. The best thing about it was that my engine was a speed density unit, not MAF. I had the intake air temp sensor mounted right in front of the throttle body and it worked like a champ.
