The cradle would bolt into the leaf spring brackets. Was thinking about using a pumpkin out of a late model explorer (9.75"). Knuckles would be fronts off a 4x4 silverado. Thoughts?

How much HP is an exploders differential good for? You going to bag it or coilovers? Road race or strip? What's your goals for truck?
why? IRS rear ends are terrible in performance applications. You cannot beat a straight axle unless you plan on roadracing.
I'm not sure on the explorer rear-end. I was thinking about putting airbags on it, that way I can control ride height for towing. It'd definitely be a handling package designed more for better control and manuverability. That, and to say I had a sweet IRS for my truck would be fun.
I'm not a huge fan of cornering an automobile into one area of sport.. I'm more into decent all-around performance... a balance between straigh line speed, handling and comfort... with an eye towards general hot-rod details.
Your bracing may be lacking...stress on the frame will twist it inwards. I'd box the pumpkin in with crossbraces from both top and bottom, this would allow you to open up the access to the axles more for more travel and still retain the strength.
but yeah, I'm no engineer...but, an escalade rides much better than a corvette!
As in everything Hot Rodding, you have to give to take...give ridability, and take handeling...

:givemebeer: I think better when I'm DRUNK! (er so I think I do)
Me to and I work better!!!!
Looks like you'll need a fuel cell as well because the gas tank goes past the front spring mounts. You might as well just build a new frame right after the cab and then make everything custom instead of building something that bolts up to existing frame.:twocents: something along these lines but with IRS.
What about a GTO IRS?
Yea, I'd like to put a fuel cell where the spare tire is, I need room for a custom exhuast system I'm workin on.
I'm just an engineer with an overactive imagination and access to 3D darfting software... I spend many a lunches dreamin up the next big thing. Here's a look at the exhaust system.

It's just a general drawing, the muffle will probably get moved back and end up sitting over top of the driveshaft... but the goal is a stock sound and volume... but then open it up to straight through.
