A couple weeks ago us folks in DFW area received hella hail damage. I have already got my truck appraised just under 2K, I pretty much have damage on the hood, roof, and just a little on the front quarter panels, doors and bed. I am wanting to get a new hood, and was wondering if anyone knew if replacing the hood might cost less than repairing the hood with paintless dent repair. The HD hood runs about $265 on GMpartsdirect.com, and a cowl from goodmark (supposedly the best) runs close to $400. I haven't gone to a body shop yet to see what they say just thought I might get some opinions here first. I already have my check just waiting til I have time to get the truck in.

Not sure about the hail damaga repair, depends on how many dents you have. If i remember correctly, there was a guy driving around fixing hail damage a few years ago with the dentless tool, i think it was 35$ a dent. Not sure, but that sounds close.
I think the HD hood would look just as good as the cowl. I haven't seen one on a 1/2 ton yet, maybe you'll be the first.
I'm going with a cowl hood when i get some $$ coming in.
Not a lot info, but i hope that helps,
keep up updated,

hey allen, goto the "HD Hood" thread, there is a guy with a black step-side with the HD hood, it is in a 1/2 ton. Looks very nice. :thumb:

I think I am leaning towards the the HD hood, but keep getting pulled back when I see a Cowel hood. I am mostly concerned with seeing what the the difference would be in putting a new hood on vs. fixing my hood now.
Thanks,
