I'm looking at upgrading my current 105 amp to the 130 amp or maybe the 200 amp if the price is right. I'm looking at a few just have a question about it. They are saying that it will fit 96 to current year Suburbans. If so wouldn't it fit 99 to current year trucks? Has the style and setup of the alternator changed from 96 to now? I found an awesome deal on a 200 amp and I want to get it but not to sure if it will work.

I looked up the part numbers this morning, and found 3 different ones for the 130 amp alternators for Suburbans and trucks. They could interchange, because sometimes GM just clocks the alternator housing different and that changes the part number. If that is the case, you can just get the new alternator and clock it the way it needs to go.

My stock alternater went out last year and I picked up a remanufactered one from napa. It is a 130 amp. I just had to swap the pulley and it worked.
all I did was go to O'rielly's and bought a Denali 6.0L 130Amp and a belt for a Denali 6.0L
you have to make sure that you tell them its for a 6.0 or it wont be the right one.
and your stock belt wont work either. its just a hair to short.
What did you pay for the alternator? I'm looking at these on ebay and they are going really cheap.Quote:

well if your wanting cheap go through ebay, but i wanted to make sure i got what i paid for and nothing used.
wound up spend $300 and then got a core charge back for it.
The auto parts stores won't give let me turn mine in for the core. Did they let you turn in a 105 amp for a 130 amp? I can get a brand new one form GM Parts Direct fairly cheap, but like I said this was a 200 amp for $199 and a lifetime warrenty. Thanks for the help everyone.Quote:

I got a Delco 145A alt last week for $170 through a local parts shop. The guy called his local GM parts people and had one for me in 3 hours. Its the larger frame alt (6" vs 5.5").
