Headers/EGR Delete
Okay I just got a set of headers from txarkitekt(thanks) and want to put them on this weekend. I want to delete the EGR off of my truck. I want all the hard tubing gone and everything. Quetions: The hard tube looks to go into the intake. How do i get it off and what do I use to plug up the hole? Next is I have the wheatley tune. Is this going to through a bunch of trouble codes now and will the truck not run properly until I get a hold of charlie and let him know I did the delete. I really hope to get this done this weekend so any feedback would be welcomed.

Sounds like a question for redheartbeat.

Sprayed99, TXarkitekt, Farmtruc or anyone that has done the conversion to remove EGR would be a good one to ask. I bought a GM block off plug for the manifold. I think I heard someone say they cut the intake end of the EGR piping off, fill it in with JB weld, let it harden and the replace it back in the intake manifold.

Anyone? Danny? Tyler? Allen?

Come one guys. This is my good friend Robert. I have talked very highly of this site several times to him, and that is the reason he registered. Hes got a pretty badass truck. Any answered would be appreciated.

Damn son! Calm down there champion! Give us a second to find this thread... :) Yes, you can do as Red described (I outlined this process in another thread) or if you have the time, go buy the intake plug from GM. Robert, you can go ahead and take off the EGR and plug the hole in the intake (using either process) using the same 10mm bolt. And sorry for not being able to give you my EGR header block off plate, but you can go to Vatozone or O'reilly's and grab a place that will fit over the header's EGR port. The only bad thing that will happen is for thr Service Engine Soon light to come on. Don't worry, your truck is fine. Blocking off the EGR is not going to wreak havoc on your motor, it will actually make it run a little smoother. Who wants exhaust gasses recirculating into their intake? Not this guy... Currently, my rear O2's are off as well as my EGR, and it is driving fine. Once I get my PCM shipped down and Charlie fixes everything, it will run mucho bueno. Rob--feel free to PM me at any time when you need help on stuff. I am not as smart as 'ol Red, but I can haold my own... :)

I used one of them Adjustable Rubber Freeze Plugs from Vatozone, works great,(thanks for the idea team39763 :hshake:) not as nice looking as the GM plug, but it works, think its cheaper too , I Forgot the Size ,thinks its around 1 3/8 or so ,was going to try hammering in a regular freeze plug but i was worried i might crack the intake, Had the red plastic cap off of a WD-40 can siliconed on there for months before it collapsed and got sucked in.
