I am going to be swapping a 5.3L into my 2 door Tahoe and had a few modification questions. I have only experience on an LS1 engine. Is there a website for modifications to these truck engines? Are there a lot of modifications that can be done to these engines? Thanks!
Its the same engine only cast iron. Parts are interchangable from the LS1 to the 5.3, within reason. There are many parts available for performance. :thumb:
What do you want to do to it? What year Yukon? OBS or NBS?
What do OBS and NBS mean? As far as what I want to do with it, simple intake/exhaust mods and a stock-sounding cam to make good power and still have stock manners :D It is going into a 1998 2 door TahoeQuote:

An LS6 camshaft will provide good power and a stock sound. A cold air induction will help the performance. Get a polished Shaner throttle body to go with it. Do not let anyone tempt you into removing the screen from the mass airflow meter, it will mess you up bad. Of course, to go with the mods you should get a performance tune. There are many companies that do mail order tunes, I prefer the NelsonPerformance tune if you go mail order. The best way to have it tuned is with a live tune but not everyone lives near and experienced tuner.
As for headers, nobody make long tubes yet for the gen3/obs conversion. NITROUS is in the process of getting some designed that may work for your application. Street and Performance makes Gen3 headers that will fit but they're midlength instead of long tube headers.
