To Buy Or Not To Buy

alrighty guys let me know what you think. 01 5.3 vortec with just under 60k, comes with complete harness, belt driven accessories, but no pcm, i can have it shipped to my door for 1000$

Yeah, a 6.0 would be optimal, but that doesn't sound like a bad price. There are better deals out there though... You may wanna shop around some more... If you feel confident that you like the motor--go look at it and try to see if you can look at the truck it came out of. If that is not possible, try and get as much info on the motor as you can. Picking up a PCM is not a huge deal--you can get one at a junk yard for pretty cheap. You can get a 99-02 PCM...but the 01-02 had the faster PCM processor...

from 2000-2002 they used the same computer service number *411
so its not any "faster" than any other computer processor. even the 1999
but it was kinda the bad seed (first year run duckups). the new generation
gneIV have a different processor than the years prior... but that doesnt
mean they are more powerful.. they just do more instruction at the same
speed. plus they removed the transmission function to its own processor
so now a ECM (engine control module) and TCM (transmission control module)
will free up processing time...
