Got some new times, but at the cost of a now-slipping tranny. Guess that it's time for a 4L80E:

I think that some low 13's are in my future when the 4L80E, converter and gears get done. I'm sooooo stoked!!!! :D:D:D

Nice times, a better MPH better than mine! I hope the 4L80E doesn't slow you down. It weighs more, doesn't have the low 1st gear the 60 has, and takes more HP to run it. It is a tough tranny though but you might want to consider a built 4L60E first. Just a thought! :thumb:Quote:

I'm shooting for 12's on the motor, and even lower 12's on the bottle.
I just don't want to spend money hand over fist on the 60 just for it to keep breaking on me.
Anyone else have an opinion????
T56. or stick with a built 60e. very promising times...thats nearly a full second off your last runs when i met you back in december.(14.7's) have you installed the tr224 yet? or was this run with the cam? any dyno numbers?
I HAD MY 4160 BUILT AT A SHOP IN FRESNO CA. SPEED-ENG.COM THEY CHARGED ME 1500 FOR A COMPLETE REBUILD, I PUT IT IN MYSELF. IVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH IT. MY BUDDIES HAS THE SAME TRANNY AS ME AND HE HAS A 408 STROKER WITH A 200 DIRECT PORT AND HE HASNT BLOWN IT UP YET
Yea a 4l80e will slow your times down some, of course it will not constantly be breaking, but I believe it weighs 30-50 lbs more.... I looked into this and after considering everything, I think a built 4l60e would be better in the end. Plus you will have to find some way to get the computer to work with the 80. JMO...
