I just got done doing my LS1 swap into my 98 v-6 1500. Its running nice and I'm just finishing up last minute things to get it back on the road. I have some questions I thought I'd throw out. Does anyone have a pinout for the passengers side under dash connector from the firewall? I'm sure it's the connector that has wiring for the fuel gauge as well as some airbag wires and the oil pressure gauge. If anyone has a pinout for this connector I'd really love you for life! :) I need to find the wires for the fuel gauge system and trouble shoot an airbag light and oil pressure gauge and i'm good!
I have been reading around some of the forums and had a question about the oil pressure. I was told by S&P that I should re-use my old oil pressure sensor and just us a thread adapter to match it up so my factory gauge still worked. Nelson's is telling me that I can't use my old oil pressure sensor because the VCM needs the input. Does anyone have any more info about this? The 5.7 and VCM are out of a 2002 camaro and I can't tell a difference in it running w/ one or the other sensor, other than I have a working oil pressure gauge w/ the right sensor! :) Thanks for any help!

on the side of the oil pan by the oil filter is a plug that you can tap to put your old oil pressure fitting into. Take the fitting off and drill and tap it for a 1/8" NPT fitting.

so the oil pressure and water temp is needed for the VCM? it's not just for the vette VCM? I've seen guys drilling and tapping where your talking about but I thought thats only needed if your using the vette VCM. Maybe I read the post wrong about having different VCM's in the vette and camaro?

I'm not too sure on that but you are correct about the Vette PCM being the only one that truly uses the oil pressure feedback to the PCM. Does NelsonPerformance's wiring harness have wiring for the oil pressure sending unit?

Someone else will need to answer that one..... I made my own harness thus the questions! :) I got a Nelson tune and thats when the questions started coming up about the sensors. The oil would be easy enough to add the second sensor but what about the coolant temp sensor? I'm sure someone has done this on an OBS so there's got to be an answer out there somewhere. I don't know any other way to keep the factory gauges w/out using the old CTS and OPS. Like I said, I've tried both ways and can't see any difference in running. The CTS is easy to swap back and forth since it's right up front and I've literally done this swap in 5 mins and then got back on the road.... I'm thinking it doesn't read but I'd sure like to know for sure!

I have two coolant temp sensors. I moved the factory LS1 sensor to the back of the passenger side head and left the 93 sensor on the driver side front. I purchased the fitting adapter from S&P to adapt to the 3/8NPT stock fitting. I am using all the stock gauges... speedometer, coolant, oil pressure and alternator.

Thats probably the best info I've got in a long time! So your just doubling up on both sensors? That answers my problem I think.... guess I don't need to find out if it's required if I do that! Where on the pass. head are you going into for the CTS? I have both sensors and never even thought about doing this! (It's the easy stuff sometimes!) Also thanks for the heads-up on the Cal-tracs. I'll be going that route very soon! I've only been out running around a few times since my transplant (just test runs) but I already know that the rear end is gonna need a lot of love to go the way I want! I've moved the batt. to the rear and the NOS bottle is going in opposite in the bed but I'm really gonna need to spend some time and money doing something on the rear end as far as hook-up! The wheel hop is there but not that bad. My major problem is I think I need to design a glue applicator in front of the rear tires! :) My 275/20's just start laughing when I step on the gas....

You need to get some drag radials for the street or slicks for the track. Air them down to 20 psi max at the track. There is a CTS plug in the rear of the passenger side head that is the same as on the driver side front. You can put your CTS there if you have the room. I was doing my wiring at the same time as doing the factory 93 CTS install so I just moved the wires for the 2002 harness to the passengers side just for additional clearance.
