ok here goes,
I own a 1983 chevy silverado c10 lwb. I really love perfromance, and my lil 350 4 blt main just isnt cutting the mustard anymore.
I want to put an LS1 in it, but am totally clueless as to where to start. I have a friend who just pulled one out of a trans am.
I would love input on this, and any or as much help as possible. thank you!

Start by reading the conversion stickies for a little general information. You'll read about parts needed for the conversion such as engine mounts, fuel pumps, wiring, etc...
-
If your '83 truck is your primary mode of transportation, then plan on first getting yourself some alternative transportation.
-
why would you go though all that trouble when you could just rebuild your 350 with flat tops and 202 heads and a decent cam make 400 hp easy
-
To get 400 HP out of that engine will kill gas mileage to about 8mpg. With an Gen3+ engine you can still get 16+ mpg with over 400 HP.
-
Cause gen III conversions are just cool thats why, or at least thats why i want to convert my square body

the efi engines seem to last a tad longer... 100,000-200,000mi longer
