A ? for The Tuners. On my interceptor gauge it shows a few degrees of knock retard under light lugging conditions. If I accelerate it goes away, never any knock at WOT . I have a duel octane tune.
1. When does the PCM make up it's mind and go down to the lower octane table?
2.Does a few degrees of retard do it?
3.And how long does it take for the higher table to be used again?

Thanks COWL327, but I don't have a tuning program of my own, just my gauge. But I do have a good tuner.
My last retune was last Aug.06. At that time I had not noticed any knock retard. It has just come up lately with the hot weather, poor gas who knows.
Just wondering if I should worry about it.
Nothing to worry about really,You could check your air intake temps...maybe your pullin hot air from somewhere

KR is completely normal during light load driving, during a shift or when the converter locks.
Only a few degrees is acceptable, any time it's audible is when it becomes a problem.
If you were to scan a stock vehicle, you'd see some kr.
It's nothing to worry about and on vehicles that show just a few degrees during normal driving, we can slightly desensitize the ks just a tad in that area.
I've seen the pcm switch to the lower octane table after a few cycles of constant knock.
