I'm about to install an Ls6 into my '86 silverado, has anyone used the TBW setup or does everyone just convert to the conventional throttle cable? What are the difficulties of using the Throttle by wire setup? I have the pedal from the 'vette. TIA

In addition and depending on what harness you use, there are some connector differences between fly by wire and cable throttle. Other than that, as long as you (if you are doing your own programming) or your tuner ensure that the PCM is set up for drive by wire, it's a pretty slick system..... Also, if you install the fly by wire, you get cruise control without additing another component.Quote:

I only had 2 of the three components, so I converted to cable throttle.... Eventually I'll find a 2003 and up year group throttle pedal for a reasonable price and I'll swap it over....
I put a 2004 LS1 6.0 in my '67 pickup using the TBW and really like it. Saved having to jury-rig an accelarator pedal and cable linkage. Put a '73 Caddy tilt/telescope column in with built in cruise connection. Not far enough along to have tested the cruise yet but I think it's going to work. Speartech did my wiring harness and he detailed out the cruise wires along with the other stuff.
That's an LS2 if it's a 6.0L. Nice setup. :thumb: Or are you talking a iron block LQ4 or LQ9 6.0L?

using 2003 C/K programming this keeps the tune tidy.
if you are using the original throttle body (LS6 corvette), then you must retrive the like
throttle pedel assembly and TAC (Throttle Actuating Control) module. and because its
corvette, itll be a high price than say a truck. plus you get to run a corvette VIN and
tuning. so the LS6 only had a manual transmission, so no automatic trans programming.
some of this can be avoided in the computer setup and use of the swap.
some tuners can swap the transmission code to the corvette LS6 VIN.
if you are planning to extract all of the LS6 power.. youll have to go all corvette support
hardware.
if you dont care about the full output power, then id:
use c/k pedal and TAC module, 2003 c/k programming and cut/paste alot of the LS6
programming code.
using a cable will have the same effect as the above as all LSx corvettes were FBW.
so tuning for cable will have to be a f-body program on steroids.

Higher compression and full floating piston pins come to mind on the LQ9. Quite a bit more base HP, too. LS1 is only a 5.7L engine.

I have the pedal from the vette and the motor is complete with the TB. All I need is the TAC module. I'll go back to the guy I got the motor from and see if he still has it. I'm going to be running an auto tranny so that'll have to be programmed when I get the VATS removed.
Can someone post a pic of what the TAC module looks like, so I can identify it when I go to look?
