Gen III on the way

Hey guys, found a cheap ls1 and trans from a 2000 Z28 ($1200) in San Antonio. (Unless I find something better before next weekend) Decided I'm gonna go for the Gen III swap. Anyway, now I have a few questions.

1.) I know I can do all the mechanical work (take out old motor, put new one in) but it's gonna be a big negative on the wiring/computer. Anybody know what it would cost to pay a shop to do it?

2.) My truck is my dd. How long should I expect to have it out of commission?

3.) Anybody know what the harness will cost from Nelson?

4.) will my driveshaft work? (I heard there are mounts you can get and retain normal trans location but cant remember where)

Finally doin the swap...WAHOOOOO!!! :rock:

I can't remember the cost of the harness, but I have seen it and Johnathon (Pretty sure thats the guy that does the harnesses) makes them look so damn good.

Nelson can make you a harness for about $650, I think. It's only like 5 wires to hook up. You can do it. You'll also need a PCM tuned for it. I think he does a one time hotrod tune for a very reasonable price. It's not the lifetime tune but it saves you a little money on the conversion. I'd go ahead and get the lifetime tune if it were me, though. Sell the factory harness on Ebay and you'll offset the cost of the tune and harness by a good $150.

Bastards sold the LS1 to somebody else, so I guess I'm back in the market for another one or a 6.0. Anybody had work done at mercuno's shop?

figure about 40 billable hours on a shop to do a swap. if a shop hadnt done one, move
onto another that has... nuttin' like someone experimenting on your machine.

depends on that shop. one week to whenever. parts availbilty and/or fabrication, options or
even what engine you might get maybe foul...
