Ok, I am still a ways from being able to do a swap. But, I am wondering what the pros and cons would be between a 6.0L vs the LS1. and how bad would the gas mileage be with the 6.0L
Thanks,
Randy

Umm...I think I read some guy getting 12MPG with the 6.0.
6.0 is iron and has a 4" bore
LS1 is alu and has a 3.9" bore
Want to lose weight? Go Alu. More bore? Go the 6.0
Gas milage is going to be the same with either. The 6.0 is a truck motor too.
I thought Allen had stated that LS1 was getting about 20mpg and Chingon states that the 6.0 is getting aprox 12mpg. Thats a huge difference !
I'm betting that mpg is going to be greatly affected by weight. I get 13mpg now in the city and that's constantly WOT  I think a 5.7 would be the same pulling this much weight around.
Does anyone know if the LS2 aluminum 6.0 that's going in the '05 Corvette will swap right in?
400HP/400Ft.Lbs. TQ
The Z06 will have 525HP I think and the "Blue Devil" will have 625HP...IF it makes it to production
I work at a GMC dealer in service and the 6.0 gets alot worse gas mileage. Its just my opinion, but I would never have a 6.0 over a 5.7. I even have customers that would sacrifice a little power to get the mileage of a 5.3 or 5.7.
My '02 Formula has gotten 26.8 mpg on the highway. Yes, I know thats in a lighter car and 6 speed, but I bet a 6.0 in an F-body would not get that.
Also take in consideration, how much power are you planning to make and what kind of power adders are you adding to it. The LS1 can take tons of abuse and additional power, but some of the boosted guys seem to lean towards the stronger iron 6L.
Most of use will never see 700hp, and I'm sure the ls1 will take it all and then some.
I say the ls1, it's lighter and it will handle anything we can throw at it.
Gas: I think I'm getting a little less mpg now that I've installed my stall and injectors. I don't think the injectors have anything to do with it, becuase you still have to keep the same a/f ratio, they are just not working as hard. I think the stall affected my mileage about 2-4mpg, but to be honest I can't seem to stay out of it. It seems everyday I'm hitting 100mph and shortening the life of my tires, lol :burnout:
keep us updated,
allen
anyone have any clue how much heavier a 6.0L would be than a Aluminum LS1?
I know from a SBC to BBC it's around 180lbs. I would think it's gotta be, around 100-150lb. differents with an LS1. And that's on the front wheels where you don't need it. And I've seen three F-body cars with over 700hp and the blocks hold up, BUT I don't know how long. :nx: LOLQuote:

I'd go with and ls1 with ls6 heads, good cam and mild porting-- you'd be over 430hp at least..
Then :nx: or a radix!!!!!! Just my :twocents:
