HP calculation

Gents and ladies too,

I went to several sites that have HP and TQ calculators based upon weight and 1/4mile times and put mine in from SAR last Friday night. Two of them based upon trap speed say I have 317HP at the wheels. If my math, is correct, 317 / .8 is 396.25HP at the motor. Does that sound right for a 5550lb truck with a 14.96 and a 90.90mph in the 1/4???

The others that do the calc based upon ET all say that I have 327 to 328 HP and that translates into 410HP.

Anyone think that is a bit much or a bit off? Can I really be turning that much HP with the few boltons I have?

Well you were rated at 345hp at the motor...the tune made one of the largest differences so 400hp isn't out of the question in my book. :twocents:

Hey buddy, that doesn't sound to far off from what i calculated, but you can't believe these hp calcs, they are ok for a before and after though, but not a true baseline:

I calc'd: 319 at the wheels, based on your 1/4 mile time and speed.
Then awesome you're loosing, 28% thru your trans and axles, that's 407hp at the crank.

Sounds right to me,

The reason I question it is, if I take Bill's time 14.25 at 93, it says that he is only making 40 more HP than me at the crank and only 18 at the wheels. That can't be right!!!! and if I add a stall and lower my ET, it should also raise my MPH and a stall won't give me more HP, just more effective use of what I already have, right?

Most calculations aren't as accurate the closer you get to 100mph, don't know why, just is, I can't explain why the calc only says he has 40hp more.

Maybe you have a freak truck, lol, more power than normal.

yay but you need to put into consideration bill has a lot of extra weight to. :laugh:

ah, true, plus those chargers don't like all that humidity, we were slowly dropping our times that night, a cool breeze was coming thru, so if bill would have stayed a tad longer i bet a 13.9 would have popped up.
