I see alot of people have swaped their 4.8/5.3's to LS1/LS6 5.7L motors. Just curious if you will loose that low end torque that trucks need? Or perhaps did it not even bother your power?

I don't think you'd lose much if any bottom end power... those motors have more displacment and that usually equates to more torque.
Well if they had a cam like a 224/230 .556/.575 110LSA then you'd lose lowend...

I swapped my 5.3 for a LS1 in my 99 GMC Sierra. I used the truck PCM and 1st used the LS1 intake. I swapped the LS1 intake back to the truck intake, more lowend torque.
The donor vehicle was a 99 TA, suppose to have 305 hp at the fly wheel.
My last dyno, with stock internals, was 250 rwhp and 296 lb/ft of torque. I am having a problem with 8* of false knock so I know there is more power to be gained.
I recommend this swap, it's what should come in these trucks from the factory.

stock compression on an fbody ls1 is 10:1 right? I was thinkin about some Patriot Performance 5.3 Stage II heads. what do you guys think the compression would run after a head swap like that? Some reason i was thinkin 10:6 or 7. Think i heard someone say that one time, but im not sure. and whats the highest compression you can run while still using pump gas?
my friend here has the Patriot stge 2 5.3's and runs 11.1:1 i think, but he had em milled just a bit for a tad more compression.
