My truck will soon be a 2004 Silverado, sport side, SC with a 5.3/3.73/locking rear. Eventually, I would like to be able to run high 13s in the truck. The mods I plan on doing immediately:
The Other Guys longtubes
Corsa Touring catback
UPD intake
ASP underdrive crank pulley
Electric fans
Yank TT3000 stall
LS1 Edit tune
What kind of times could be had with traction? Where would a 125 shot put me? All feedback is appreciated.
I would think the 125 shot alone would put you in the high 13's. I put a 50 shot dry on my truck when it was bone stock and run consistant 9.20's 1\8 and 14.20's in the quarter. that was with a g80 and stock 3.42 gears too.
Just don't get a UPD, the fit and finish sucks, they break easily. Get a Volant if you want an enclosed intake.
Does that "SC" mean single cab or supercharger?
Just think about this. Add all those mods up.
headers, 700
corsa, 500
intake, 300
pulley, 240
fans, 100
stall, 700
edit, 550
total: 3090, i hope my math is right, lol.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the 5.3L, it's an awesome engine, but for 3K$, you could buy a long block ls1 and cam. hay hauler bought his ls1 for 800 bucks, but that was a deal, so let's make it 1500 bucks, then the cam, springs and pushrods are 700. that's 2200$'s. then your 500$ nos setup, I guarantee you'd be in the low 13's.
I'd love to see someone get a new truck and immediately swap that 4.8 or 5.3 for an ls1 and see what happens. Your truck would look completely stock and haul ass. I know the '04's have a lot of power now, but a cammed ls1 will make quite a bit more.
I know you probably have a warranty to worry about, but to be honest, you need a good service tech to support you. Once they see your mods, they close you out and say you've abused it.

I am actually selling a 2002 WS6 that ran low 11s to get this truck. The truck will stay stock internal for a long time and won't see any engine changes. This is to be my tow vehicle for a race car, but I want to be able to hold my own on the street and track.
Thanks for the feedback. Anyone have an ET prediction on the above combo? I'd really love to be able to tear up lightly modded GTs.
He bought it from some guy in houston or dallas, just keep looking if you're interested, you'll come across the deals, they are out there.Quote:

I run 14.0 with similar mods(check link in sig) on motor and high 12s on the gas.
