Hey guys and gals, trying to find out if anyone has upgraded to an LS6 cam in there 5.3? I have one and was told all I need is new shorter pushrods? Sound right? Thanks for looking and any part numbers would be greatly appreciated.

Use the stock length rods, go to hardened for security. 7.400"
I currently run that cam and the only thing I changed was the valvesprings.
you guys think its a good swap? I got the cam for free<<<favorite word, had 8,200 miles on the car
Can't beat that, I'd do it for free
for '02 and up LS6 cams, you need longer push rods as the cam is ground on a .050 smaller base circle.

Yup, due to LS6 valve stem height.
I think I am going to hold off on cam swap. Im getting too much conflicting info,,,lol. I am just going to focus on getting the swap itself done then decide from there what to upgrade. Thanks for the help.
i wouldnt do it, not worth the money for labor...unless ur installing it urself than the labor is free....i have a friend who ran a 14.2 fully bolt on and then installed the LS6cam and stayed exactly the same, no power gain.
