my 4L60e is slowly on its way out .....again  , was drinking with some buddies and we figured it be a lot cheaper to change a clutch than a whole trans :duh: + i could run a lot steeper gears  if i went with a 6 speed... but i imagine its pricey  .
Just imagine all of the extra beer i could have bought instead of buying junkyard 4L60's :nutz:
When i bought my truck initially i was shopping around for one with a 5 speed, all i found were 4.8s and 4.3s ! :tantrum:
I was told they weren't avalible with a 5.3, something about the back of the crankshaft being diffrent, do i have to drop the crank and have it machined to accept the pilot bearing and input shaft ? :duh:
Was wondering how hard this is to do and who here has done it
4l60e to 5 speed
or
4l60 to a T56
What did it cost, was it worth it? etc..
Thanks

im not sure of everything needed to do a t56 swap but i do know that you'll need a crossmember from a 5spd truck. also, you'll need the slave cylinder from an ls1. check out fullthrottledan and 1truess on gmfullsize.com both of these guys have done the swap :hshake:
