Hello all, recently I made a large error in judgement and drilled 5 extra 3" holes in my stock air box. Some time later, I was towing my travel trailer and of course it downshifted up a hill and it was VERY loud compared to the original (obviously). THe wife asked me what the hell I did and I said "nothing honey" dont worry about it. Well now that she is getting better at handling mods, can I live with the Volant CAI and the extra tube that goes down towards the fog light?

With the scoop it sounds a bit louder, but I love the way it sounds. You get used to it everytime you punch it, i don't even hear mine anymore.

From the pictures I have seen, it looks like there is a sound chamber of some sort? I don't mind a little sound, but the "homemade" holes I drilled were VERY loud. I don't mind buying the two items, just want to make sure that I don't get the same effect as the "free mod". T
Thanks

Nope, their is no sound chamber. Its just the pipe from where the fog's are to the airbox. Why don't you try it out and if you don't like the sound it makes, just return it if possible.

It's normal for the sound increase. Stock tubing on all vehicles is setup as they have to abide by a certain dB in driveby noise constraints. If you think a truck is loud once opened up, try it on a luxo car.
I hacked the box on an LS400... that thing was W I L D loud WOT. So is the 5.6L V8 in my 420SEL now.

Does the extra scoop going downward make it louder than a stock Volant CAI or quieter? I would assume louder. Thanks for the help, I know it is a trial and error type thing, but I think I will go with it. I just don't want the ol' lady thinking there is something wrong with the truck. I saw the episode on Two Guys Garage the other day abou the Tahoe they did. They got 12 RWHP with the CAI and a Volant Exhaust. Do any of you know about the exhaust setup from them?

The scoop makes it louder. Just tell the wife its the wind, lol. I thought the exhaust was for diesels but i haven't been to their website since i bought the intake.
