For my conversion, I'm going to be running a 12 gallon fuel cell, using a dual pickup system to make sure I get fuel when I'm on severe angles.
A sump-based cell doesn't work well in our application, so the attached is a diagram (respect my MSPaint skillz! :laugh: ) of what I was thinking. The blue represents the fuel lines, and the 2 pickups.
The red is the proposed EP381 Delco fuel pump (as recommended in the sticky), and the green is a filter. (I assume you'd want one, though the pickups do have a 70micron mesh screen).
My question is - does the pump need to be submerged in the fuel in order to stay cool (meaning my design wouldn't work), or does the fuel flowing through it keep it cool?
Alot of guys use the external pump which works fine...until you lose prime.. which, thanks to Murphy, ALWAYS happens when you're just about on your side, and NEED to throttle out of it.
If this won't work, I did have another thought of using an external pump with a low-pressure "lift" pump in the tank, but I'd rather keep it as simple as possible.
