I am running 22s on some pretty beefy tires in the back. I just had 4.10s installed a couple of months ago and thinking of steping up. What are the pros and cons of stepping up to 4.56 ratio? In my mind that is what I should have done in the first place with the bigger wheels. Opinions please! :help:
I say go for it. You need the muscle for the 22s. The engine RPM will be a little higher but not too much. I sure hope you have bigger brakes for the bigger shoes.

I should have gone 4.56s also but opted for the 4.10s. My tires are smaller diameter though.
The 4.56's should snap some neck bones.LOL I can't wait! I already had liked the jump to 4.10's. Men and there toys!!!!
I bought Richmond 4.56's and they will be installed in the next couple of weeks. I also have 22" wheels with 305/40/22 Toyos that are about 31" tall, so the gear will not feel like a true 4.56 it will probably feel more like a 4.10.
I'll llet you know how they feel when they get installed.

have you thought of a higher stall converter than 4.56's?
i'd say that would be the way to go.
With the 22's and larger then stock tires on a 4.8, I don't think 4.56's would be bad at all. I'm sure you'll notice it some on the highway, but it'll be a lot more fun around town.
So, you think my 4.88's will be overkill on the 33" tires? ;) It'll be fun for a while, but the gearing will be a little more correct when I get the 37" tires on.

Only problem is the 4.56's are weaker. Some guys have had problems with the 4.56 breaking in high hp applications. It depends on the power level you plan on getting to and how you drive it. street / track? I am running 285/55/20 that are 32" tall. I have 4.10 with an 80E and they are great.
