Guys, I got a 4.8 with a 5speed in my 2003 rc.. I think it's the new venture 3500??? Is this the same tranny as the S10??? What's the HP rating on it???

Looking to do mods. Hope it holds-up..

Does anyone make performance clutches for it??

I think it is the same as the S10 and I think the NV3500 is rated for 350ft. lbs of torque. I have had a half dozen trucks with these trans. and I have yet to tear one up. I am sure you can find a performace clutch for it and by the way I have a 4.8 5speed with 30k miles on it out of my 01 if you know any one looking.

    Ron,

How hard was it to take out the 5speed and drop in that 6speed. Did you have to cut the driveshift. I'm thinking of doing that. The 1st gear ratio of the 5speed is 4.06. I think that's too low for a V8,fine for the 4.3. If it's a clean swap, I'll try it.

It is a very clean swap, your crossmember will bolt up like it was made for it, you can use your truck or car trans mount. The trans is about 4" longer so you will need to cut your shaft but if you go to lower gears you will probably want an aluminum shaft. You will need 4.10 or maybe 4.56 gears with the 6 speed if you are running a tire that is 29" tall or taller. I have 4.10's and it is geared taller than the 5 speed with 3.42's was. You will also have to get your pcm adjusted for mph, the T56 VSS is different from the truck, the pulses per mile is different. Nelson performace can fix it. You will also have to have a different clutch and output shaft coupling for your driveshaft, (finer splines)
