Why do you need an adjustable regulator?

the factory pump is in the tank and will not work woth the fuel cell so i will have to go to a aftermarket fuel pump which will be external. usally the aftermarket pumps are higher in press. so one would have to adjust this down to about 13-14 psi. if i am incorrect on this someone please correct me.

A little more info is needed here. Is this for your 89 TBI 350? Or an LS1 swap, or?

If you are merely replacing your fuel tank with a fuel cell and keeping the same engine, you don't need a new regulator (unless your in-tank pump is internally regulated?) I am unfamiliar with TBI engines. Look at your engine where the fuel lines hook up and see if you can locate the regulator.

If your regulator is anywhere else in your fuel system (besides inside the fuel tank)you can replace the fuel pump and leave the regulator as is. The regulator doesn't care much about the type and location of the pump, as long as the regulator is downstream form the pump and the pump is of sufficient pressure. It's job is only to regulate the pressure down to specs.

Make sure when you get your fuel pump you get an appropriate hi pressure injection pump, not one designed for carbs. You mentioned 13-14 PSI which is insufficient for an injected engine.

yes it is for the 89 tbi, and that is all thefactory reg allows to the engine is approx 9-14 psi, the regulator on these motors is located in the tbi unit it self as far as i thought it would not handle alot of pressrure that the aftermarket pumps produced. i could definitly be wrong here so i am being catious as to what i spend my money on .,

I've just done a little research to educate myself and found that the TBI uses low pressure injectors so the solution is quite simple actually. Don't overbuy on the fuel pump. Do not use a hi pressure fuel pump and your stock regulator will be fine. By high pressure, I mean anything over 30 PSI. You don't want a hi pressure pump in an essentially low pressure system. Replace your stock in-tank pump with an equivalent in-line unit if you can't figure a way to modify the stock pump to fit your new fuel cell......
