Dudes,

Hope someone has some experience on the 4L80E, cause I'm having the same problems on 3 of those.

We have 3 1994 suburbans 2500 with 5.7L TBI engine and 4L80E Tranny.

So Far none of them last for more than a year 40K Km!!!!!!!!

For 2 of them I bought 2 rebuild trannies from a GM dealer at Miami just to have both dead by the year too.

The problem comes on the rear drum that burns out, and in consecuense all the disks die out. I'm rebuilding one at this time. And other feels like is gonna die any time soon.

If there is a kind soul wth the knowledge on this junks, I will really apreciate the help

    Thanks in advance

I thought that too, 4L80E where like totally armored, but so far only the TH350 and the 4L60E have prove a point to me!!!!!!!! Hit them real hard and stays together all the way.

I had back in time a problem with the 4L60/700R4 but figure it out, was the kick down cable badly regulated.

My 4l80e has been making some bad noises for a couple of months now, still runs strong, just some ticking noise.

I think you better check it right away, cause most of my repairs have involve things that went out just because I did not stop it on time.

    My bad advice

I have already taken it to a shop, but the exploratory surgery to investigate what's wrong will cost as much as a new tranny. I am going to just buy a rebuild off of ebay later this year.
