    2WD to AWD?

I used the search and didn't find anything so i thought i would ask. So i had a crazy idea, I'm gonna swap the (blown) 4.3 out of my 98 GMC c1500 for a 5.3 and i was just try to get a salvage truck for cheap and after reading the 4WD to AWD thread i was wondering how hard it it would be to convert a 2wd to AWD using the 4x4 parts out of the salvage truck (plus whatever parts i would need to buy)? Thanks for any thoughts and or tips about anything.

Ive built 3 rcsb awd trucks and working on a 4th. If ur wanting to do a build easiest way is start with a 4x4 platform. As the frame on the 2wd is diff. Although can b done via cutting and welding. Not recommended. Just get 4wd to start with.

Thanks for the advice, the truck i want to do this to is sentimental so wouldn't want to ditch it for one that's already 4x4.

O, haha I didnt think of that. I'll have to look into frames, i'm assuming there is a year range were the frames were the same. Any idea what that is?

I beilieve the 88-98 pickup frams are same just have to use ur fuel and wiring if u use a 88-95. Cause the 95-98 have the vortec engines which have diff injection system and fuel system.
