What tranny fluid are you guys running?

I'm about to put a stall in my truck and do a trans service while I'm at it, just curious what fluid everyone is running?

Dexron 6. Dont use synthetic its to slippery and will cause clutches to burn up. My 2-4 band in my first 60e went out after 20k miles of using synthetic. Just use factory Dexron fluid and you will be fine.

I've heard something about using some kind of John Deer hydraulic oil being better to use, anyone else heard this?

Hydraulic oil would be like 90 weight wouldn't it?? Never heard that one before, but maybe if your transmission was slipping that might hold it together a little longer. Thanks for the answers guys, I was going to ask this same question. I almost bought synthetic transmission fluid last weekend, as I too am putting a stall and doing an overhaul on mine as well. Dexron 3 it is!!
