    Leaking Rear Axle Seal

Okay so heres the jist of what a buddy of mine told me when he was taking a look at my truck, when he had the rear passenger wheel off he sould see signs of fluid leaking from the rear axle seal, and it wasnt bad, but it was getting on the brake discs and would probably cause that side to slip on the pads. whats your guys input on this? something i can do my self? any one have a link to the part i may need?

    Thanks guys

aint nothing to it...go to the local parts store pick up a repair manual for your truck and pick up an axle seal. Both can be had for less than 40 bucks

My leaking axle seal the second time cost me a set of rear gears. I had to replace the axle. I think the gdmf is leaking again. My advice is buy seals from the dealership not the cheapo parts warehouses.

Why are you asking us if you can do it?

We have no idea your skill level or tool supply.

You have to drain the axle grease, pull the wheel, disconnect the caliper to remove the caliper bracket and rotor, pull the pin bolt and pin from the diff to be able to pop out the c-clip so that you can then slide the axle shaft out, pop out the seal, reinstall the new one without damage, and re-asseble the mess in reverse order without a mistake. If you can do that, go for it.
